On January 9th, Omega inaugurated in Lausanne the official two-year countdown to the 2020 Winter Youth Olympics.

As official timekeeper for the sports event as well as for the Olympic Games, the Biel/Bienne-based brand joined the Lausanne 2020 organising committee amid a particularly festive ambience filled with typically Swiss music and symbols.

At this must-see future winter event, more than 1,880 young athletes representing more than 70 nations will vie with each other in 81 competitions organised in the Lausanne region, on the shores of Lake Geneva, in St. Moritz, as well as in the nearby Vaud Alps and French Jura. Lausanne 2020 will not only feature parity between male and female competitors, but also see ski mountaineering appear on the Olympic programme for the first time ever.

For the official ceremony unveiling the countdown clock, Raynald Aeschlimann, President and CEO of Omega, was accompanied by Danka Barteková, Chair of the Olympic Coordination Commission for Lausanne, Alain Zobrist, CEO of Omega Timing, Patrick Baumann and Ian Logan, respectively President and CEO of Lausanne 2020.
