Passione Caracciola Rally

IWC Schaffhausen partnered the Passione Caracciola rally for the third time.

This historical motorsports event honours the memory of Rudolf “Karratsch” Caracciola, three-time European Grand Prix champion in the 1930s. This year’s edition started in Milan and finished in Lugano, taking a route crossing through Monza, St. Moritz, Davos and Arosa. Not only does this rally pay tribute to one of the greatest ever racing drivers, but it also provided the brand with an ideal event at which to present the new Ingenieur Sport Chronograph combining classic elegance with a sporting style. This model features a design evoking the first generations of this watch range in the 1950s-60s, and its historical inspiration naturally also appeals to devotees of historical cars.

Alongside the race itself, participants had a chance to visit the Monza Formula 1 racing circuit and to get a taste of the rally ambiance aboard old-timer DTM cars such as the Mercedes 190 E Evo, driven by experienced professionals Maro Engel and Bernd Schneider. Guests also took the wheel of classic cars such as the Mercedes 190 SLR built in the 1950s, an exercise that enabled them to put into practice the regularity racing techniques used in events such as the Passione Caracciola.
