Frédérique Constant extends its manufacturing facility

On 16 May, Frédérique Constant laid the foundation stone of a new building adjoining the existing edifice at Plan-les-Ouates. The group which includes the Frédérique Constant, Alpina and the Ateliers deMonaco brands, is currently short of space on its premises.

Since its launch in the late 1980s, Frédérique Constant has remained loyal to its mission; that appears to be the principal reason for its exponential growth. In 2006, the brand was obliged to enlarge its production site. To that end, it decided to occupy a building with a floor space of 3,200 m2 at Plan-les-Ouates, which has now become too small to house all the activities and development of the brands.

Work on the extension will be spread over a period of 24 months. The new building with a floor space of 3000 m2 will be on four levels and enable the four main workshops to be enlarged, accompanied by an increase in production capacity from 150,000 to 250,000 watches per year while the workforce will also be doubled and finally reach 250 employees.

The Frédérique Constant Group is optimistic and continues to implement its sales-focussed strategy by defining strong guidelines for its two flagship brands: extending accessible luxury for Frédérique Constant and developing growth for Alpina. The early part of 2017 saw single digit growth for the group and a superb performance at Baselworld.
