CVC Capital majority shareholder of Breitling

Breitling Chronométrie, La Chaux-de-Fonds

Breitling announced on April 28th 2017 that a majority stake had been sold to CVC Capital Partners, one of the world’s biggest private equity firms.

The share capital of the brand and its affiliates in Switzerland and abroad had thus far been owned by Théodore Schneider along with his two sisters who were minority stakeholders.

Théodore Schneider will chair the new Board of Directors, while his two sisters have withdrawn from the capital. Executive management will be taken over by Jean-Paul Girardin, who has been serving as vice-president for several years.

Jean-Paul Girardin is one of the finest watch industry connoisseurs and has successfully orchestrated some of biggest projects  undertaken by the brand,  otably - but not exclusively - on an industrial level. His 25 years with the company have enabled him to acquire solid experience in the areas of logistics, customer service, distribution, communication and finance. Jean-Paul Girardin will progressively take over Théodore Schneider’s tasks and responsibilities relating to the post of CEO.
