News On 21 March, Bucherer, a European leader in the watch and jewellery sectors, announced its acquisition of The Watch Gallery, the British luxury watch distributor.
The Swiss group is therefore establishing its presence on the important British market, with several boutiques at prime locations in the heart of London. Bucherer plans to take over The Watch Gallery personnel (150 employees); the retail outlets will in future trade under the Bucherer brand.
Created in 1985, The Watch Gallery was initially one of the world’s leading addresses for watch collectors. Today, The Gallery is the independent watchmakers’ leader in the United Kingdom and presents the finest global brands of Swiss watches in the luxury sector. The company has six independent retail outlets in London, including that city’s biggest Rolex boutique located in the One Hyde Park complex. The Watch Gallery also operates timepiece concessions in the iconic Selfridges department store and on a number of Internet sites.
