Slight increase in the third quarter for Richemont

At the end of the third quarter of its 2016/2017 financial year, which ended on 31 December, the Richemont group announced sales up by 6% (+5% at constant exchange rates) at a figure of 3.09 billion Euros.

This result contrasts with previous years and signifies a break with an ongoing downward trend. The jewellery houses - Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels and Giampiero Bodino - stood out with sales figures of 1.75 billion, up 9% (+8% at constant exchange rates). The watch industry specialists - A. Lange & Söhne, Baume & Mercier, IWC Schaffhausen, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Officine Panerai, Piaget, Roger Dubuis, Vacheron Constantin and Ralph Lauren - for their part reported sales worth 813 million, 2% down. The other brands - Alfred Dunhill, Chloé, Lancel and Montblanc - signalled an increase of 7% to 534 million.

At regional level, Europe posted 3% growth at constant exchange rates to reach 861 million, contrasting with the figures reported in the first six months which fell by 17%. Asia-Pacific was also higher (+10%, 1.1 billion) thanks to sales achieved in China and Korea. America too is in positive territory (+8% at 559 million), due in part to the reopening of a Cartier house in New York. Japan reported a slight fall of 1% (313 million), put in perspective by the reopening of a Cartier boutique in Tokyo. The Middle East and Africa posted sales worth 230 million, down by 1%.
