Jessica Ennis-Hill
Located on the famous Ipanema beach, the Omega House, set up at the heart of the Casa de Cultura Laura Alvim, welcomed many prominent figures, stars and athletes throughout the Olympic Games which ended in Rio de Janeiro on 21 August last.
At an event specially dedicated to a theme that is highly appreciated by the brand, space, the venue was transformed into a lunar décor. Even the cocktails based on Tang – a sweetened beverage used by NASA on its flights – was served in plastic pouches similar to those carried by the astronauts on their missions.
One day after winning a silver medal for Great Britain in the women’s heptathlon, Jessica Ennis-Hill took time out to visit the Omega House. As the brand ambassadress she expressed her pride in winning her medal and discussed her sport projects.
Hardly had they emerged from their exploits in the swimming pool than the Omega athletes and ambassadors Michael Phelps and Chad le Clos took part in the “Swimming Legends” event. On the packed premises of the house, they were joined by Alexander Popov, another representative of the brand, who is one of the foremost specialists in freestyle swimming sprints. During these Olympics, Michael Phelps won five gold medals and one silver. A fitting reward for this athlete who quit the world of competition at the end of the Olympic Games.
