The event concluded on an extremely positive note. Over and above the constantly rising figures, it crystallised the unity of an industry driven by the same desire for sharing, excellence and expertise. The opening of the show to the general public, along with its extension into the city centre, have become key factors in its success.
The 2024 edition of Time to Watches was an unprecedented success. A record attendance of unprecedented quality, an exciting programme and delighted exhibitors: these three pillars contributed to the event’s favourable overall outcome. The 52 participating brands attracted over 7,000 visitors,20% up on last year.
From April 13 to 27 2024, the watchmaking house presented its largest “Rare Handcrafts 2024” exhibition to the public in the hearth of its historic building on the rue du Rhône in Geneva. To perpetuate all the fine artistic crafts associated with the decoration of timepieces for almost five centuries, Patek Philippe unveiled a new collection of one-of-a-kind and limited-edition pieces showcasing these precious skills.
For the first time, the Geneva-based company is presenting a (999-piece) limited edition timepiece produced in collaboration with an external creative talent. Legendary French designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac has instilled his inimitable style into the M.A.D.1 "Time to Love".
For more than 50 years, the main destination for any mechanical movement in Switzerland after assembly has been COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres), who grants the official “certified chronometer” title. Since beginning April, the Laboratoire de Précision will also function like COSC, officially authorised by the Swiss Accreditation Service (SAS) to carry out alternative and independent testing.
After collaborating with the Geneva-based company for the first time in 2020, Maurice Lacroix is now presenting a second timepiece created in partnership with Label Noir. Featuring a subtle interplay of contrasts, light and shade, transparency, black and white, this timepiece highlights the creativity and innovative spirit of the two entities.
The celebrations marking 50 years since the Musée International d’Horlogerie moved to its current site are in full swing. The exhibition titled “MIH. 50 Years of a Monumental Showcase” retraces the historical part of the event, complemented by publications dedicated to the anniversary. A second exhibition presents the new acquisitions.
As two exceptional watchmakers, Dominique Renaud and Julien Tixier, combine their expertise and passion to create a laboratory dedicated to horological study and fundamental research. Different in so many ways, they share a deep connection and so it is as surprising as it is inevitable that their paths should converge: Renaud Tixier is born. More than just a brand, it represents a development programme dedicated to reexamining certain fundamentals of mechanical watchmaking.
