Ten years ago, Swatch opened the doors of the Art Peace Hotel in Shanghai, a place where artists from all over the world can stay and work, immersed in one of the most interesting cultural areas of the international art scene.
Over the past decade, the Chinese residence has hosted more than 400 artists from 54 different countries. Cultures, disciplines and generations converge to create a kaleidoscope of ideas, talents, projects and dreams.
The “Welcome! 10 Years of Swatch Art Peace Hotel” exhibition retraces the history of these ten years through the works of 19 artists from ten countries. It includes installations, sculptures, paintings, photographic and video works as well as a selection of Swatch drawings created by artists in residence. After stops in Paris, Venice, Biel/Bienne, Milan and Locarno, the exhibition was presented at the MAXXI Museo nazionale delle arti del XXI Secolo in Rome last October.
