From August 7th to 17th Switzerland’s largest film festival once again welcomed the big names in production and direction, actors and film lovers from all over the world.

As a loyal partner of the Locarno Film Festival, Swatch renewed its support for young filmmakers by awarding them two exceptional prizes.

The Swatch First Feature Award, worth 15,000 francs, was presented by an international jury to Mamadou Dia (Senegal) for his film Baamum Nafi. During the festival, Carlos Lenin (Mexico) was also invited to stay at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel in Shanghai for three to six months. Since its opening in November 2011, this establishment has welcomed more than 340 artists from some 50 countries who have prepared to take off on the contemporary art scene. A former artist in residence, American director Elizabeth Lo, shared her experience during the cultural event’s Filmmakers Academy. To celebrate this new edition of the Ticino festival in due style, Swatch launched Locarno72, a model exclusively available online and in some of the company’s stores in Switzerland.
