Official departure of the EHVJ director

Having announced his departure in 2016, Vincent Jaton will officially step down at the end of 2017, after nine years serving as director of the Espace Horloger de la Vallée de Joux.

This passionate watchmaking enthusiast is leaving the institution after structuring the museum and implementing a wealth of measures that have made it an entity recognised by its peers and a broad audience. Forecast visitor numbers are higher than expected and the museum has seen a 13% increase compared with 2016. The Espace Horloger has acquired a Swiss and international reputation due to the quality of its collections and of its original temporary exhibitions, as well as by its welcoming attitude and its tailor-made cultural mediation approach. It has become a platform of knowledge for watchmaking professions, both in terms of its interactive installations and its lively workshops run by professionals and students from the Ecole Technique de la Vallée de Joux. The museum currently serves as the independent promotional body of the Canton of Vaud’s watchmaking heritage and its major horological complications.

Vincent Jaton has always kept firmly in mind the interests of the region, of the museum and of its employees. At the end of the year, he will hand over to Marion Burkhardt, curator since September 2016, a high-performing institution that will enable her to implement the foundation’s strategic objectives, in cooperation with the museum team. Vincent Jaton will move on to take up new professional challenges as project developer and manager in the fields of tourism and cultural engineering, innovation, and of course watchmaking.
