To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the RMB factory in Bonfol, MPS invited all its staff, clients and partners to a celebration on the theme of boldness, held on September 1st and 2nd.
An official ceremony and a factory tour for employees, family and friends drew around 1,000 people in the course of the two festive days.
During the ceremony, speeches by the MPS management and Jacques Gerber, Minister for the Department of Economy and Health of Canton Jura, retraced the various stages of the long-running presence of RMB/MPS in Bonfol. Speaking in impeccable French, the newly appointed President of MPS, Gert-Frech-Walter, reminded the audience that, “In 1967, MPS Bonfol, already had a loyal and well-reputed clientele”. More than 400 participants then enjoyed a gourmet walk around this magnificent region of the Jura.
During the open days, 600 people took the opportunity to get a closer look at the expertise and the professions exercised on the site. MPS Plant Manager Frédéric Chautems proudly and enthusiastically stated: “I am lucky to be part of this magnificent success for the past 12 years, and the motivation of the team, the passionate dedication, this tradition of boldness, have enabled us to achieve a great many things. We have added another 3,600 sq.m. building, hired 158 people, developed 690 references, devised 55 machines or systems previously inexistent on the market, acquired 112 new machines and incorporated nine new professions”.
MPS Micro Precision Systems was created in Biel/Bienne when the Faulhaber grouop took over the activities of RMB, itself founded in 1936. The company is active in the production of microsystems based on ball-bearing technology intended for the watch industry, the medical field, as well as automation, optics and defence. With its subsidiary companies MPS Precimed and MPS Décolletage (dedicated to profile-turning), the group currently employs around 400 people across its sites in Biel/Bienne, Bonfol, Court and Corgémont, including 130 at Bonfol.
