Tissot partner of the Reka village in Montfaucon

Tissot has signed a broad-scale partnership with Reka, Switzerland’s number one family holiday provider. Together, they have developed an tourist concept that is unprecedented in Switzerland: their first Reka holiday village in Montfaucon, at the heart of the Jura’s famous Watch Valley.

The centre gives pride of place to time and watchmaking. It serves as a convenient base for families as well as fans of relaxation and sport eager to rediscover the region and its role as a historical cradle of watchmaking.

Canton Jura is a watch industry bastion and one of Switzerland’s most beautiful tourist regions, which is why the two Swiss brands – Tissot and Reka – have chosen this location for their partnership. The new tourist concept was presented to the press on June 9th 2017 and the inauguration was attended by Roger Seifritz, CEO Reka; Daniel Niklaus, CFO Tissot; Guillaume Lachat, director of Jura Tourism; and Jacques Gerber, Minister of Finance and Health of Canton Jura. The event also graced with the presence of Swiss Alpine wrestling champion Matthias Sempact, who is an ambassador for the watch brand.

A large clock tower, a modern mini-golf course featuring Tissot watch dials and other playful activities invite holiday-makers – parents and children alike – to enjoy a pleasant interlude. While the first floor of the clock tower offers families a chance to gather around a fireplace, the second is dedicated to games. At the foot of the tower, a giant “hourglass” invites children to shift the sand between two different levels using small wagons running on wooden rails. Guests can also enjoy a relaxing time in the ultra-modern wellness areas, offering treatments including baths with essential oils and water jets, ayurvedic massage, Breuss massages and even massages for children. For those wishing to visit Watch Valley, corporate tours are organised. And for amateur or experienced cyclists, a bike rental centre – operated in partnership with the Swiss specialist Thömus – rents bikes and offers guided cycle tours.

Several million Swiss francs have been invested in the renovation of the Reka centre in Montfaucon, one of the pillars of Jura tourism. The village comprises 33 individual houses with a total of 200 beds. This represents 30,000 overnight stays per year. After entirely renovating the holiday houses and the reception area, Reka will invest a further four million Swiss francs by 2020. This sum will be allocated to the main building shared by all (indoor swimming pool and restaurant), as well as to 12 apartments. The use of wood from local forests as an energy source (wood chips) promotes ecological sustainability.
