From May 18th to 21st, Chopard closely followed the 35th edition of the Mille Miglia, the legendary Italian car race that was also celebrating the 90th anniversary of its launch.
The 440 or so crew members from 36 nations around the globe wound their way along the race route at the wheel of collector’s cars. Starting from the Viale Venezia in Brescia, they covered a distance of over 1,600 km, passing through more than 30 cities and market towns – including Verona, San Marino, Rome, Sienna and Parma – before heading back to the starting point.
Chopard co-president Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, aboard a Porsche 550A Spyder RS, was accompanied by French driver Romain Dumas, thus rounding off the Chopard team notably comprising Swiss journalist and blogger Marie Charlotte Vananty; Claudio Roddaro, driver and collector of Porsche cars; Albert Carreras, son of the famous tenor José Carreras; as well as friend of the watch brand David Hu.
The 2017 edition of this event provided an opportunity to launch three watch models produced in tribute to the Italian race: the Mille Miglia 2017 Race Edition, the Mille Miglia Classic XL 90th anniversary Limited Edition and the Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph.
