Exceptional Palme d’or created by Chopard

Last May, the Cannes Festival celebrated its 70th anniversary, while Chopard feted 20 years of partnership with this the most glamorous of all events in the world of film.

To commemorate this double anniversary, the Swiss jeweller created an exceptional Palme d’or. For the very first time, a cloud of diamonds made its appearance on the precious branch made of Fairmined certified ethical gold. With this unique jewel made using materials mined by responsible methods, Chopard has given expression to its deep attachment to the Festival while reaffirming its commitment to sustainable luxury.

As an uncontested icon of the famous rendez-vous of the cinema world, the Palme d’Or also symbolizes the exceptional relationship between Chopard and the Cannes Festival. Re-designed in 1998 by Caroline Scheufele, the trophy in its new interpretation in fact marked the start of a partnership which has gone from strength to strength over the years.

As is the case every year, the sparkle of this Geneva firm dazzled the audience throughout this event. Not only did it provide jewellery creations for many stars, it also organised several evenings, including the Chopard Trophy presented to a young actress and a young actor with a promising future. The 2017 edition was won by Anya Taylor-Joy and George MacKay. They both received their prizes from the hands of Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron, the godmother of this edition, at a ceremony held at the Chopard Rooftop in the hotel Martinez.
