IWC in the field of historic motor racing

Christoph Grainger-Herr

IWC Schaffhausen presented its totally remodelled “Ingenieur” collection to mark the 75th Goodwood Members’ Meeting.

This historic racing event held in the South of England provided an ideal framework to unveil this new line whose design takes its inspiration directly from the earliest generations of this family of watches dating back to the 1950s and 1960s. Highlights of the event include the race in which Christoph Grainger-Herr, the watchmaking firm’s new CEO, took to the track at the wheel of a Mercedes 300 SL 1955 model, the year in which the Ingenieur was born. The manufacturer also presented the first edition of the Scott Brown Trophy and sponsored the first prize. This race pays tribute to the memory of Archie Scott Brown of Britain, the famous driver of the "Lister Knobbly", a legendary sports car of the 1950s.
