Breguet flies to the sound of music

Montres Breguet has a long-standing tradition of supporting arts and culture preservation.

In line with this patronage, the house began, in 2002, a partnership with the Geneva International Music Competition. For more than a decade now, this association has continuously evolved and grown stronger, leading to the establishment of a genuine harmony between the horological and musical world.

From its origins and over past centuries, Breguet has attached great importance to the art of music. This collaboration undeniably constitutes a tribute to the distinguished composers and musicians - such as Gioachino Rossini, Arthur Rubinstein and Sergueï Rachmaninov - who were unconditional admirers and owners of Breguet watches. Inspired by this heritage, the brand is proud to help shape the future of young virtuosos destined to influence tomorrow’s classical works.

The 71st edition of this competition will take place from the 18th November to the 5th December 2016, and is entirely dedicated to the disciplines of voice and string quartet. A hundred of young artists from all over the world will perform their art during a series of sessions, facing a jury composed of renowned experts from across the classical music industry. At the end of the contest, a prize for the Interpretation category will be awarded during the final ceremonies, which will take place at the Geneva Victoria Hall on 27 November and 2 December.

Along with this prestigious award, the Geneva International Music Competition will be handed a special CD box, sponsored by Breguet, and featuring three live recordings made in 2015 on the occasion of the Laureates Festival. Classical music lovers will be delighted to discover a selection of concerts performed by about thirty laureates who were awarded one of the competition prizes between 2000 and 2014. In addition, to promote the international career of these young prodigies, the maison supports the organisation of a tour across Asia giving them the opportunity to take their first steps on the most acclaimed musical scenes.

To close the 2016 festivities, one of the finalists of the 71st Geneva International Music Competition will receive the «Coup de coeur Breguet» Prize, offering the recording of a CD with orchestra.
