News Motor racing legend Porsche Motorsport has chosen to team up with Chopard for its major return to competition with the Porsche 919 Hybrid at the LMP1 World Endurance Championship. Sixteen years after its sixteenth victory in the Le Mans 24 Hours, Porsche Motorsport will therefore be the focus of all eyes this season. Its history is also bound up with that of another motor racing legend: Jacky Ickx. A longstanding Chopard ambassador, «Mr Le Mans», six times winner of the race, was crowned four times at the wheel of a Porsche.
Perfectly in keeping with the spirit of the Superfast watch collection, this new partnership is part of the brand’s continuing long-term commitment to motor racing. Indeed Chopard was one of the first watch brands to forge such alliances. Back in 1988, it sponsored the Mille Miglia, «la corsa più bella del mondo». It has also been the official timekeeper of the Monaco Historic Grand Prix since 2002.
